Beginner Shotokan Karate 2025
New Students, 10th Kyu & 9th Kyu
Service Description
Students will learn basic blocking, punching, and kicking techniques (kihon); a variety of beginner level postures for the lower body for balance, generation of power, and movement (dachi), beginner level pre-arranged sequences of techniques (kata); and prearranged sequences of attacks, defenses, and counterattacks against an opponent (kihon kumite) to learn situational awareness, distance, timing, and proper technique to build a strong foundation for jiyu kumite; beginner level kata movement breakdown (bunkai) and interpretation of techniques (oyo-jutsu) for real world self-defense (goshin-jutsu); as well as basic Japanese terminology, culture, and etiquette. No previous experience required. Minimum age to begin training is 5 years old. *Beginner Training Schedule: Most Mondays & Wednesdays 5:00-6:00PM (Kihon & Kata) Most Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30-7:00PM (Kihon, Kata, Kihon Kumite & Goshin Jutsu)

Cancellation Policy
Please book training at least one hour prior to the beginning of the training session. If the training you are trying to book is full, you may join the waitlist through out dojo app and will be notified if a vacancy becomes available. If you have previously booked training and wish to cancel you may do so up to one hour prior to the beginning of the training session. After this time, you will be charged a no-show fee of $5 if you are not present for training.
